Back home when you need money from the cashpoint it's easy.. from inserting your card until it throws money out at you... 45 seconds max!..
So, I am always perplexed at what Turks do at a bankamatic ( cashpoint )!
They seem to have some type of romantic attachment to it, and unable to say "goodbye " to their "lover"
It's as if, they have found some extra menu on the bloody thing under the heading " games "..and like a child on " world of Warcraft " won't give up to they have reached their personal best!
Just what the hell can you be doing on it, to take five minutes!.. it's there to take money out or if you are lucky, put some hard earned cash in! So, Why has every part of the process, so carefully thought over?
" enter pin number and press the green button " giris "..what have you forgotten what green looks like?..PRESS THE DAMN THING!
" select transaction request "...Why do you suddenly have memory loss at this point?.. did you just join the queue to see what the excitement was at the end of it?
"Select amount you wish to withdrawal " Why is this such a hard decision for them. What do they think this is "Kim besyuz milyar ister ", the Turkish equivalent to "who wants to be. Millionaire "..do you need to phone a friend?... go on ask the audience. The audience being the 10 people behind you!..
" would you like another transaction " Why at this point do you glance left then right? Is it out of bemused bewilderment as to the unlimited options this "lover" gives you?.. for Christ sake, Why press "Yes " do you expect "instant hand relief " to be an option?
"Press no to return card ".press the damn thing, I beg you, I will give you the choice of any future female offspring I may produce in the future, just press "No" before search parties are sent out to find the poor twenty souls now behind you "
At bloody last. Oh for Christ sake... he's left the bloody money in the slot.. " SIR...EXCUSE ME..YOU HAVEN'T TAKEN THE MONEY "...moving 20 cm to shout .
Too late...the guy behind you is in front of you quicker then a Turkish boy racer after the lights go green!
DAMM!
I laughed out loud at this post because I've lost count of the number of times I've been stuck behind people doing all these things. It's not unusual either to have some elderly man thrust his card in your hand and ask you to carry out the transaction for him, while he fumbles in his wallet for a scrap of paper containing his pin number.
ReplyDeleteI also love the "crowd arounds" when a group of guys come up to the cash point. Though just one guy wants to use it. However when he doe, all his friends crowd round him; either for protection or just to see what the hell he is doing :)
